I have to start by saying that this book is one of my favorites at the moment. It is lovely in so many ways. Two layers of text make it appealing to a wide age range. The first describes all the “jobs” the moon does and then a side bar on each page gives a description that is good for older children. The whimsical illustrations are fun and engaging, adding humor but also communicating the moon’s roles in memorable ways. For young children it is a perfect introduction to the moon itself, but also to the many ways the moon affects our lives.
